Karklė old-timers' homestead Karkelbeck No. 409 invites you to relax by the sea! The homestead is located in a forest on the Olandų kėpurė cliff, in the southern part of Karklė - away from the main road, closer to the sea and nature. Peace and the roaring sea, Lithuanian forest, sand, amber, sound, forest and other therapies and education await you.
A spacious campsite and glamping gazebos await guests during the warm season. One of the gazebos, along with an educational pavilion, is located in a territory without alcohol in any form.
The log cabin with a terrace "Royal Amber Workshop" is open all year round for comfortable, fulfilling relaxation.
"Karkelbeck No. 409" homestead has its own history and philosophy. The territory of the large homestead includes a spacious campsite, a log cabin "Royal Amber Workshop" with a terrace, 3 gazebos and an educational pavilion with a surrounding area free of alcohol in any form.
Here we foster a healthy lifestyle, active leisure and prepare vegetarian food. In the summer months, the homestead operates a vegetarian kitchen "Gryn Peiva" , various events and camps are held. The health and active leisure services provided at the homestead promote a healthy lifestyle - a healthy soul in a healthy body.

Karkelbeck Farmhouse is a family business. Now it's a business, at that time it started as a side activity while hosting friends and relatives for a vacation. More than ten years ago we reconstructed a log cabin and built three gazebos. Then gradually the idea of establishing a campsite emerged, in order to use the available space by dedicating it to people's slow and quality recreation.
Currently, Aušra takes care of the therapies and educations taking place at the homestead, customer service, and the image of the homestead. Matas focuses more on developing systems, optimizing processes, and general maintenance of the homestead.
We are happy to offer a place for a peaceful and quality vacation. We are always happy to welcome both new and returning vacationers.
HISTORY
The "Karkelbeck No. 409" farmhouse has its own history and philosophy.
The history of the homestead, according to the exiled former owners, dates back to the 16th – 17th centuries. The homesteads were large, and were inhabited not by the impoverished fishermen of the village of Karkelbeck (the old name of Karklė), but by farmers. This was thought until an extraordinary find in the summer of 2012, when, during the reconstruction of a fisherman's hut, a late 19th century token with the German inscription "KÖNIGLICHE BERNSTEINWERKE. KARKELBECK No 409" was found.
This is how the name of the homestead Karkelbeck No 409 and the first rest house “Royal Amber Workshop” came about. The healing properties of amber gave impetus and direction to the philosophy of the homestead. Here we foster a healthy lifestyle, active leisure and prepare vegetarian food.

Continuing the story of an extremely rare find, it is worth mentioning that such tokens were issued by the "Stantien&Becker" amber mine, which mined amber industrially in several places on the Curonian Spit, since the mid-19th century.
At that time, amber collection was taxed by the Prussian emperor. It is believed that the owners of the homestead either worked for the aforementioned company or collected amber themselves and had their own small amber workshop, where they processed amber caught on the Karklė coast with a keseli (i.e., a grab).
The idea to establish a campsite arose around 2014 in order to make more meaningful use of the available meadow by allocating it to people. At that time, the reconstructed holiday home “Karališkasis gintaro cechas” was already operating. More and more travelers from Lithuania and abroad came to the homestead, asking to pitch a tent or camper. Today, we are happy to offer a place not only in the campsite, but also several different accommodation options for those who want a quiet and quality rest.
